What is JLB?
We’re Just Love Bristol - a group of Christian students passionate about social justice. We don’t claim to be experts (very much the opposite!), but we believe in a God that is compassionate and who cares for the vulnerable.
We follow a just and loving God, and we want to learn more about Him and how we can engage with His mission for justice. The Bible shows, time and time again, that God wants us to lift up the voices of the oppressed and to stand against injustice.
‘And what does the Lord require of you, but to do justice, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?’.
Micah 6:8
When we look out at our city, our country and our world we see so much inequality and hurt – it can be overwhelming! So as Just Love Bristol we want to create a space where we can support and encourage one another to begin tackling injustices where we are.
We want to be a community rooted in our identity as children of God, and equipped to go out and live lives that reflect God’s love for the homeless, for orphans, for widows, for the lonely, for sex-workers, for slaves, for anyone who suffers injustice anywhere.
Whatever stage you’re at – whether you’re just starting to explore the biblical call to social justice, or if you’ve already got a specific area you’re passionate about - we’d love to team with you to follow our God’s heart for justice.
By doing it as a team we can encourage each-other when we feel overwhelmed and want to walk away. We can support one-another in coming to God in prayer, remembering that we aren’t doing this alone – we’re joining God’s great mission.
